L2TP/IPsec: get the pre-shared key from the dashboard. Your VPN username and password are on the account page. SoftEther uses TCP 992 and hub DEFAULT. The SE and SE1 OpenVPN profiles use UDP 1194; other country profiles use TCP 465 or 443.

  1. Select the time and open Settings → Network → Add connection. Add a built-in VPN.
  2. Name it SSTV, choose L2TP/IPsec and Pre-shared key authentication.
  3. Enter a hostname above and the key from your configurations.
  4. Enter your SSTV VPN username and password. Leave the group name empty; no user certificate is needed.
  5. Connect. Reopen network settings to disconnect.

A managed school or work Chromebook may restrict VPN setup. Contact its administrator if settings are blocked. Do not select IKEv2 for these SSTV settings.

OpenVPN alternative

On a Chromebook with Google Play, use an Android client that imports the complete .ovpn profile. Follow the Android guide. Built-in OpenVPN settings have a different workflow.

Stop the built-in VPN before using the Android client and verify your intended application after connecting.

See Google's Chromebook VPN documentation for client choices and device restrictions.
